hi

i have a fresh installed system, with:

motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

Nvidia 3060 v2

i have a classic 5.1 with 3 connectors, my issue is that only if a game for example cyberpunk 2077 and when i use VLC i can hear that all 5.1 channels are woking fine.

but, everywere else on the system the 5.1 doesn't work, like, firefox, spotify, netflix windows app etc...

i tried to changange some settings but nothing changed, tried to reinstall to, change the drivers but nothing to do.

tried to change setting on the Realtheck Audio Control programm, it's worst the i immagined ... the dB setting, the distance and all whe switches are not working

the only way to change the dB was to change it in the advanced audio proprieties.

My issue is that the surround system is not working with firefox, spotify and onther programs.

I have searched on the web since 1 month, and i'm writing here for desparation, because i can't find a solution for this mistery.

thanks in advice

Pat

    I have'nt INSTALLED it RANDOMLY
when i build this MACHINE i CLONE the OS Partition straight away and was using it untill W 11 came out and after Updating MOTHERBOARD installed the FOOD it needed and that AUDIO manager was gone
the ISSUE is there with ASUS because the ASUS REALTEK AUDIO MANAGER is not doing the job it supposed to do my complaint is if that AUDIO MANAGER which was old did the Job the LATEST one should do the BETTER than that !!

Individual "features" within Realtek HD Audio Manager and Realtek Audio Console are determined by the motherboard makers. Nothing to do with age of the audio configuration app. See below for a 2012 windows 7 example.

Here is the simplest explanation (using the 10 band EQ as the most obvious example). Budget computers gets the "cheap" 10 band EQ in the realtek hd audio manager (or realtek audio console). Premium computers gets the premium EQ from Dolby or DTS or Waves or Nahimic. They can't give you 2 separate EQ in the premium computer because end users would accidentally turn both EQ on and ruin their sound. So the premium computer will have the "cheap" EQ removed from the realtek hd audio manager.

That is what happened to you.

Your old motherboard was a budget board which came with the "cheap" realtek audio features. Your new motherboard came with premium DTS audio. In that situation, many features gets deleted in the realtek audio console and moved to the DTS audio app.

People like fireberd have figured it out in Windows 7 in 2012 --- why his gigabyte realtek hd audio manger in 2012 didn't have EQ. It was because his gigabyte motherboard came with soundblaster app that has the EQ.

    https://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/252007-realtek-hd-audio-equalizer-not-working-properly.html

You cannot have multiple EQ, multiple loudness equalization, multiple environmentals, multiple speaker fill...

If Asus deleted a feature in realtek audio console but DTS doesn't have the replacement feature --- then take it up with Asus using MY DETAILED EXPLANATION because their tech support wouldn't understand the exact issue.

You ranting about "old" vs "new" will not solve your problems, instead you are just wasting other people's time trying to figure out your issues. And after I explained it clearly to you, you will immediately know whether people that are helping you are BSing or not.

This is a "budget" vs "premium" audio packages issue. You need "speaker fill" to play stereo music or youtube videos in all 5 speakers. "Speaker fill" was deleted in your realtek audio console because you have a premium DTS audio package. But DTS doesn't give you that feature.

The most recent ASUS/DTS discussions --- even the asus forum mod doesn't really understand the issue and is now complete radio silence.

Nothing to do with "old" vs "new". It has been like this for over 10 years --- features got deleted in the realtek hd audio manager and moved to the premium audio app.

My "budget" computer has speaker fill in the Realtek Audio Console.
