hi

i have a fresh installed system, with:

motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

Nvidia 3060 v2

i have a classic 5.1 with 3 connectors, my issue is that only if a game for example cyberpunk 2077 and when i use VLC i can hear that all 5.1 channels are woking fine.

but, everywere else on the system the 5.1 doesn't work, like, firefox, spotify, netflix windows app etc...

i tried to changange some settings but nothing changed, tried to reinstall to, change the drivers but nothing to do.

tried to change setting on the Realtheck Audio Control programm, it's worst the i immagined ... the dB setting, the distance and all whe switches are not working

the only way to change the dB was to change it in the advanced audio proprieties.

My issue is that the surround system is not working with firefox, spotify and onther programs.

I have searched on the web since 1 month, and i'm writing here for desparation, because i can't find a solution for this mistery.

thanks in advice

Pat

Let me again summarize what's going on with the blind leading the blind.

    1. Saltgrass: you are the one that is confusing other people. Most of Netflix's 5.1 is dolby digital plus --- which is compatible to the original dolby digital. Only a small number of brand new stuff have dolby atmos. New big budget movies have atmos. TV shows --- NO.

    1. Anif: Stop complaining about how the old realtek hd audio manager "worked". Your motherboard never came with realtek hd audio manager. And even if your asus motherboard did come with realtek hd audio manager --- you DIDN'T install it anyway because Asus has always have BRANDED realtek hd audio manager and BRANDED realtek audio console.

    Image

Which means that you installed some random realtek driver from other sources and it had "speaker fill". Asus motherboards with DTS doesn't come with speaker fill.

You installing the generic audio driver means that you lose half the features of your audio hardware and you may have problems with your microphone if you do a zoom call.

    1. Pat: Your SS3 has EQ --- so move the EQ around and see if the EQ works. If the EQ doesn't work, then there is something wrong with your whole system. It may be as simple as what I described on page 2 (allow exclusive control and not disabling audio effects). When you install your driver, did you use asussetup.exe --- that is a MUST, you CANNOT use device manager to install. Run amoury crate to see if there is a newer driver available.

You are being very vague regarding your explanation of what is wrong. I like to work with specific information and hopefully, a sound source that does work with the 5.1 audio.

The Realtek audio console is good for basic settings, but more advanced configurations need the SS3. You may need to tie them together but SS3 does affect sound quality with the analog outputs.

Currently, I am outputting through the Optical Cable to a Sound System, but I can switch back if you would like to test some configuration.

    Just let me know.

sorry if i'm vague, i wrote it so many times... i try to summarize.

    Sonic studio 3:

Doesn't work with the 3.5 jacks. i have the classic 3 jacks 5.1 system. With "doesn't work" i mean that whatever settings i change, it does complitly nothing.

Does work with hdmi output on the screens.

Does work with with digital headset output. Don't have a digital 5.1 sound system to connect to it to try if it works.

    realtek audio consol:

Every option that you see in the screen does absolutly nothing.

I can change between the output tipes.

the amplify lvl works, but i can put it only on extreme, if i lower it the output is too quiet...

i can turn off the sonic studio 3, but ... it does and doesn't do somthing....

if i press the speakers to test the audio comes out correctly.

In the DTS sound unbound, the 5.1 video demo the you find in the DTS Headfone:X setting does play correctly on all the 5.1 speakers. but only the demo video tha you fin there.

when i try to change the Spatial audio under the windows setting do DTS headfone:X the sistem changes to stereo. And nothing like befor.

i tried to change the settings here too, but like before.

the only thing that i can do here is change the audio output volume.

i know that some SW doesn't support the 5.1 surround system.

when i watch a movie with VLC the 5.1 works a bit, but the outputs of the centra speaker and the rear are wrong. some sounds are completly cut out, when i put in stereo then i can hear what is missing. tryed to change some settings in sonic studio 3 while whatching a movie, but nothin. look the first three point in the post referred to sonic studio 3 and referred to the realteck audio consol.

when i play a game on gog, for example, cyberpunk 2077, the issue is like above.

whit the asus support i frashly installed my windows11, instelled their drivers, and followed their instruction step by step.

now the last mail that i recived is that i need to wait. They wrote:

"About the errors of the software "Sonic Studio", we are waiting for information from the competent department of the headquarter.
    Please wait for our information.

    Best regards - Asus Support"

An ipotetical solution is to buy a Logitech Z906, but ist quiet expensive at the moment. But i remain uncertain if the 5.1 works perfectly with the digital output like on my headset.

    i hope that i didn't forgot something ...

thanks for trying to help me.

I spent 3 hours this morning going through this situation. I was looking at why I could not use DTS:X with my speaker system. It turns out the DTS:X needs an HDMI cable for that. The Headphones do work just fine.

I would need a sound bar that would accept the HDMI then HDMI out from the sound bar to the monitor. I have no way to test such a configuration, so only speculating based on how it works using Home Theater components.

Just to verify, I can test my speakers using the Realtek console or SS3 and all speakers function correctly, but during playing actual media, the back speakers do not unless possibly if you had the Upmix selected in SS3. The speaker fill option seems to have disappeared.
