hi

i have a fresh installed system, with:

motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

Nvidia 3060 v2

i have a classic 5.1 with 3 connectors, my issue is that only if a game for example cyberpunk 2077 and when i use VLC i can hear that all 5.1 channels are woking fine.

but, everywere else on the system the 5.1 doesn't work, like, firefox, spotify, netflix windows app etc...

i tried to changange some settings but nothing changed, tried to reinstall to, change the drivers but nothing to do.

tried to change setting on the Realtheck Audio Control programm, it's worst the i immagined ... the dB setting, the distance and all whe switches are not working

the only way to change the dB was to change it in the advanced audio proprieties.

My issue is that the surround system is not working with firefox, spotify and onther programs.

I have searched on the web since 1 month, and i'm writing here for desparation, because i can't find a solution for this mistery.

thanks in advice

Pat

First, let me say many folks have the same problem you have. They can't get certain types of audio from certain sources.

A question which needs to be asked, what is playing your audio and it is the same for both Speakers and headphones, such as Bluetooth versions?

If you can click on and test all 6 speakers on your system, then that part is working.

Since I don't use most of the audio sources you reference, I will point you to Netflix and their explanation of how to get quality audio (link below). It shows to stream high quality audio you need a system that can deal with Dolby Atmos or a connection to an audio system supporting 5.1 surround sound.

What may be going on is, you believe 5.1 sound and 5.1 surround sound are the same thing. I believe, this is where the confusion starts.

YouTube stopped streaming 5.1 sound several years ago, so the testing videos may not work. Newer versions of sound are moving to what they call an Object in Space type version. The 5.1 sound, where each channel has its own stream, is no longer being done for these situations. But they stream info which provides the sound and along with that, the info as to where the object, and the sound it makes, is located.

Dolby Atmos has many requirements. One of those is a High Bandwidth during the sound reproduction. I have never been able to get the Dolby Atmos sound enhancement for speakers to work on my ASUS desktop, but it does work for headphones, if you have it available.

I am certainly not an audio expert, but I have been doing some research in preparation for a Home Theater upgrade.

All i do is Play the SONGS from my MACHINE
    and the Main Point is

i should be able to Control the Sound of Each Speaker as i was able to do on REALTEK HD Audio Manager and i still do the same on my SOUND CARD

    Jo,

the issue is not only the 5.1 audio autput, but the realteck audio control and sonic studio 3.

They don't work with my motherboard.

i'm in contact with asus and still waiting for ad update.

it can be that the combination "windows11"+"ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II" is not scripted well to let the realteck audio control and sonic studio 3 work well and route the signals to the right output. And the realteck audio control and sonic studio 3 doesn't change the windows 11 settings, it's like they arn't connected.

i tried the "mono" audio autput like Anif sugested, ehm ... ok .... but ... you loose the real 5.1 experience in this way ... no thanks ....
