hi

i have a fresh installed system, with:

motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

Nvidia 3060 v2

i have a classic 5.1 with 3 connectors, my issue is that only if a game for example cyberpunk 2077 and when i use VLC i can hear that all 5.1 channels are woking fine.

but, everywere else on the system the 5.1 doesn't work, like, firefox, spotify, netflix windows app etc...

i tried to changange some settings but nothing changed, tried to reinstall to, change the drivers but nothing to do.

tried to change setting on the Realtheck Audio Control programm, it's worst the i immagined ... the dB setting, the distance and all whe switches are not working

the only way to change the dB was to change it in the advanced audio proprieties.

My issue is that the surround system is not working with firefox, spotify and onther programs.

I have searched on the web since 1 month, and i'm writing here for desparation, because i can't find a solution for this mistery.

thanks in advice

Pat

Pat, as you should be able to see the forums blanked out part of the link address. If I search the thread title it brings me to this same thread we're in.

Can you provide a link to the thread that concerns you? If you notice it blanks out any part of it, just post the missing part (only) nearby.

Websites sometimes shut down for maintenance during the weekend. In Microsoft's case they have so many servers all over the world that they can shut some down without being put offline like that, although at times there is disruption in a service like Activation or Updates.

I really hope you can find the fix, Pat. Others who know the issue may post here. Please also let us know what you find out.

    Hi :) thanks

no, don't have contacted asus support ... sadly they web page doesn't work. lol. coincidences? I don’t think so. XD lol

    Image

i buyed it last month over amazon, but don't think it's a hardware issue because the 5.1 works with games and vlc and it doesn't on firefox and other programs. i think it's a software issue, it can be that the drivers from realteck aren't compatible with windows11 or there is a bug in theyr code, or windows that doen't allow the correct comunication with other software by using the right audio settings.

i will try the forums that you linked, and hope that the asus forum comes back online.

i can wait here too if somone else has an idea to fix

but we tried really a lot of options to fix it, but without luck :S

i relly hope it's just driver issue and hope this will be identified and fixed.

windows 11 "just" released, there can be still issues that only time can fix them, and some guy behind the scenes programming his A** off for one of the companies.

    thanks for your help again.

if i have some updates i will post them here too.

Have you brought up the issue with Asus Support? If you're still under warranty they must fix it: https://www.asus.com/support/

If not then I'd post this in Asus ROG forums to get the help from those closest to the problem:

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/

There are also forums for Dolby 5.1 Surround here:

    https://professionalsupport.dolby.com/s/dolby-a...

    https://www.avsforum.com/threads/dts-vs-dolby-d...

    https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/threads...

It's enthusiasts who can usually answer these questions most knowledgeably, without having to wait for one to hopefully show up in a general Windows forum.

    I hope it helps.

Realtek can cause problems we see here a lot.

Update the Sound controller driver from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there compare to make sure you also have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display, Network and all other drivers. If no newer then uninstall the Sound controller driver in Device Manager, restart PC to reinstall it.

Next go into Device Manager, right click Sound controller driver to Upgrade driver, then Automatically.

If nothing newer found in Windows Update then try again but this time choose Upgrade Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick to try all previous drivers queued there.

There are fixes for Realtek Sound driver, enhancements and sound problems here:

Feel free to ask back any questions. If you'll post back detailed results then I may know what to suggest next, if necessary.

    Hi :)

i installed all the last drivers and bios from the asus web page for windows 11 64bit https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wifi-ii-model/helpdesk_download/

altready tried to upgrade driver, even with the differen one, like i told in the prevous post, tried to play with the different driver too, change settings and try if there is a fix, but no luck :(

    Image

i tried to install the drivers from the realteck web page, even with them there are issues, so i revert back to the last version from the asus rog web page.

thanks :) but still the issue is here :(
