Microsoft Authenticator is asking me to authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator to use Microsoft Authenticator

So first of all... Why is "microsoft Authenticator" not an option in the "Products" dropdown when choosing where this post should go? I'm just going to choose "Windows"... Sorry not sorry.

Also, I can't take a screenshot on the microsoft Authenticator app without it capturing a black image (thanks,) so here is an extremely low resolution webcam picture of my phone screen.

When I click "Passwords" section on the microsoft authenticator app, I see a button that says "Sign In".

So, I click the button, to sign in. Then, it asks me to authenticate using microsoft authenticator, but I am not signed in, and this is a "sensitive" page, so I have to enter the code displayed into microsoft authenticator, BUT I AM ON MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR ALREADY!!! Who designed this terrible app??? Cheap labor resources then you expect us to prefer microsoft edge over Chrome? LOL

Also, when I search my own question in "Bing", it doesn't come up, even if I type the title word for word. Does it go through some sort of not-mentioned approval process before my post becomes actually visible to the public, or is Bing just extremely bad at updating its search results in a timely manner?

This is COMPLETE gibberish. I can't USE another method; the MORON that wrote the code for this app requires two instantiations of this app to be running at the same time, which, as far as I know, is technically IMPOSSIBLE. Every damned time I try to use a different method, it slams me right back into the stupid-butted circular logic bullcrap. I supply a PIN or password that I friggin' KNOW is good, the app calls bull-puckey. I am locked out of whatever requires Microsoft Authenticator to authenticate. What the Hell GOOD is an authentication app THAT CANNOT AUTHENTICATE?

When I try to use my Google account to access it, it requires me to RESET my Google account password. WHY, damnit? How do I know that this INCOMPETENT IDIOT is not going to then lock me out of my GOOGLE account with his total incompetence? This is RIDICULOUS. How the bloody damned HELL am I supposed to be able to actually use this app? I'm assuming that this moron has a college degree...a degree in what? Idiocy? He has compromised hundreds of thousands of accounts with this...what's another word for incompetence? I'm getting tired of using the same word repeatedly. Malfeasant and misfeasant cretin.

    I fixed mine!!!!

    omg what a nightmare smh

    1. You got to open an EDGE BROWSER first of all.
    2. Then go here: https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfo

    https://aka.ms/mysecurityinfoThe

    1. Now delete the authenticator account from the phone its causing problems on.
    2. Delete authenticator app.
    3. Turn phone off and then back on
    4. Download and re-add Authenticator app to phone

Everything should reset itself from here.
Now go through the steps and re-add the work account to authenticator.

    MS are useless.

I had the similar issue and was able to resolve it using the following steps

    1. Disable Security Defaults for the account (you can probably modify a conditional access policy as well to exclude a single user)
    2. In Azure AD I went to Users -> Per-User MFA
    3. I found the affected user and selected "Manage User Settings"
    4. I checked all three options (NOTE: not all of these may have been necessary, this is just what I did)
      1. "Require selected users to provide contact methods again"
      2. "Delete all existing app passwords generated by the selected users"
      3. "Restore multi-factor authentication on all remembered devices"
    5. Save Changes (NOTE: I did not enable MFA here. I left it as disabled in the per-user MFA section)

After doing all of this the user was able to add the account to the authenticator app and I reenabled Security Defaults. I'm not sure if all of these steps were necessary, but this is what I did to solve the issue. I did have the user uninstall and reinstall the authenticator app before going through these steps , but that seemed to have no effect. Hopefully this helps someone down the line.
