    I am on windows, and only with the boot stick was I able to rename (move, via cmd) the catroot2 to catroot2_

    But I forgot to wash&repeat for windows\softwaredistribution !

    Is it just me that can't rename these folders from in windows?

    I think Resource Monitor indicates Mpeng (defender) as having files open. I ran a few things to disable defender (features) , which may be why sfc /verify reports tampering... and still windows update is complaining about stuff that's probably already installed

    I found a really easy fix. This error is due to the updates already being installed.

    Simply scroll down in the Windows Updates, and:

    1. click on pause updates for 1 week.
    2. resume updates again

    Windows updates will recheck for new updates and it will be fixed.

    That worked!

    Apparently, there'll be a hotfix on the way, but unsure if it'll just be for Windows 11 or if it'll apply for Windows 10 as well.

    1. click on pause updates for 1 week.
    2. resume updates again

    Windows updates will recheck for new updates and it will be fixed.

    Had the same error and will verify that pausing and then resuming updates did fix the problem.
