Windows 11 Lengthy Boot

When I upgraded to Windows 11 recently, Windows no longer booted to the proper drive so I had to into the BIOS and select the Windows Boot Manager drive/partition. Now when it boots up in can take 45 seconds for the BIOS to start up. I assume it's looking for the boot drive, or there's something wrong with the boot drive. I think it has something to do with drive mapping.

When I go into Advanced option of WinRE, select Command line and execute a dir command for the C drive it shows my data drive. The D: drive has my Windows install. I've had a number of scary problems with my Windows 11 install so I really really don't want to touch anything unless I have expert guidance.

    Yes - Port Triggering is a more secure form of Port Forwarding and I'm working on getting that setup. Thankfully I have a friend who was a network guru and he's helping me. I should know later today how that goes.

    They need to help get you logged in as Administrator after modem Reset. This service is included in your bill. They also seem to be saying that the gaming internet can be sporadic unless you do some kind of port forwarding. If it is not clear how to set this up, I would ask to have it escalated to higher level support, or ask for a supervisor, to guide you.

    I’ve contacted Xfinity and this is a known issue for gaming equipment that requires a consistent network connection. The solution is to configure the modem for Port Triggering, a secure form of Port Forwarding. Reading the instructions it’s complicated, and mostly talks about WiFi connectivity to game consoles. But hopefully this will pertain to a hard wired PC. Right now I’ve reset the modem to factory and attempting to login as admin, which is not working. Of course. I’ll get it eventually.

    So I’m in the process of doing that and will post the results,

    I'm still here and engaged.

    All router manuals and setup guides are online. I'd google yours to reset and optimize it, check for any known issues.

    Your router model will also have specific reset steps and optimizations. I'd be all over that. If it's less than a year old ask for router Support to help you optimize it.

    I'd also plug ethernet directly into modem to test. For this you can ask for support from the IP which must get it working properly as part of the monthly bill. If they tell you it's a Windows problem, tell them you've already eliminated all possibilities working with a Moderator and 10 year MVP in Microsoft's Community forums.
