Could not update to 22h2 due to 0x800701b1 and 0xC1900101 error. Then I managed to update and boot fails, 0xc0000098 errror. What do I do?

Sacha,

Let's try deleting the erroneous boot entries which are pointing to a non-existent device.

The statutory warning applies! Before modifying the boot configuration, please backup your system image (the OS and boot partitions) to an external hard drive using Macrium Reflect Free edition.

From Admin Command Prompt, run:

  • bcdedit /export c:\boot_config_backup.bcd
  • bcdedit /delete {9649d88d-4b28-11ed-8001-6d7368757261}
  • bcdedit /delete {4069d4e4-2920-11ed-be4c-a85e45d0a878}

Then, run these commands and post the output here:

  • bcdedit /enum All
  • bcdedit /enum All -v

    Yeah I figured so I already tried that but this time I get the error again.

    Maybe we should try rebuilding bcd as we were about to do before?

    Or should I open another ticket?

    If the error doesn't resolve itself in the subsequent reboots, you can import the BCD using this command:

    • bcdedit /import c:\boot_config_backup_22h2.bcd

    yes, same as before, same error code.

    To load windows I have to press f1 at the blue screen and then "continue using windows", and it loads right away.

    I knew I shouldn't have erased win rollback :D Anyway, I'm also kinda glad because I didnt' understand what fixed for a brief moment an hour ago :D
