bottom right icons not working

All those icons in the bottom right of the taskbar do not work, no response despite left clicks on those icons. These include the volume, network, clock and notifications icons. The Action Center cannot be called out as well. However, those hidden icons under the "Up Arrow" work properly.

My desktop is running on Windows 10 Home version 21H2, the latest Windows update was just run yesterday.

The followings have been tried with no improvement:

a) System File Checker - sfc /scannow

b) DISM tool - CheckHealth, ScanHealth & Restorehealth

c) Powershell command

Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

d) Renaming of UsrClass.dat file

e) Restart Windows Explorer

Anything else I can do to solve the problems?

    Greg, I've tried the link, it appears that the extension has been installed. Will continue to use it to see how it helps.

    Though I'm always conscious about the sites I visited, but sometimes I will accidentally touch sites which AVG reports that they are phishing or malware pages. That's why I hope to have adequate protection on my computer and browser to avoid any possible accidents for virus attack.

    Will start the removal of 3rd party antivirus program and then attempt for Repair Install of Windows.

    Clement, I'd try the extension anyway to see if it's working in your region.

    Otherwise Defender should work without configuration for Chrome just like Edge since they're both Chromium browsers based on the same code.

    Do you practice safe browsing and avoid infection by instinct? If not then you might want to keep the Malwarebytes Real Time because it won't let any infection through, and plays pretty well with Defender.

    Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

    Thanks, Greg. It's comforting to know that Windows Defender provides web protection for Chrome. How can I turn on this function?

    I note from your link that the currently supported region of the suggested add-on is just United States. As I'm not living in the States, it seems that I can't use this add-on.

    Clement, I'm recommending to only use Malwarebytes for on-demand scanning, not real-time protection. Windows Defender does provide protection for Chrome and any other browser. But you can enhance it's protection by adding the Microsoft Defender Browser Protection add-on for Chrome from it's web store here:

    Hi Greg,

    I just find out that, right before my attempt to remove AVG from my desktop, Windows Defender only provides browser content filtering for Edge, whereas Chrome is my daily choice.

    Will MalwareBytes cover browser content filtering to Chrome, or even Firefox?
