This worked for me. I disconnected printer from laptop (USB), executed the download, program told me to connect printer, and it was done. Took about 15 seconds

You need the: lj1018_1020_1022-HB-pnp-win64-de.exe - Here it is:https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL22237/bi-58680-4/lj1018_1020_1022-HB-pnp-win64-de.exe
Good old HP 1018 is now working again :-). Thanks for the help!
