This worked for me. I disconnected printer from laptop (USB), executed the download, program told me to connect printer, and it was done. Took about 15 seconds

Thank you, kind person. The HP driver worked just fine and didn't install Search Monkey on my computer or worse.
It requires a monthly subscription of about 10 dollars. Probably a new printer is cheaper than running this for about 4 months!

Shame on HP at their service quality including service asessment questionare after each vist on their page.
A few folks (including me) was unable to get this working because of "missing files" error. This was actually the result of Win system language.
I solved mine (which is running Traditional Chinese) by downloading the complete driver pack from Microsoft Update archive: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=LaserJet%201018%20
This contains ALL the languages HP released with Laserjet 1018, and it should solve the missing files error problem some are running into.
