Is live.co.uk using POP on a mail host out of order or discontinued. It worked perfectly for years but has not worked for last 2 days. I get "Unable to send or receive messages for the Live.co.uk (username) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity. Server: 'pop3.live.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F Protocol: POP3 Port: 995 Secure(SSL): Yes"

    Since applying the registry edit given by ClitheroeKid my live.co.uk email account has worked perfectly in WLM 2012 on Windows 7 laptop. I have monitored it for 5 days and it has been fine. Today my 4-block IP address changed and everything continues to be fine at present. Long may it continue !

    I sincerely hope this will continue to work for both of us in the long term as well as currently and without any other issues appearing.

    As far as I can work out this issue seems to have been confined to the various Microsoft email accounts, only on Windows Live Mail, only on Windows 7, and possibly only in the UK.

    I wish I had worded the original post question differently because it is possibly a bit difficult to find and follow this thread, especially as I specified an email account which is less common than some other Microsoft email accounts and I mentioned POP so it limits the search a bit. But I didn't realise initially what might be involved.

    hi thanks for the info.

    the link was on my own thread entitled "server problems ?" i won't post it here as it might confuse things. i haven't done the registry thing yet but as i've managed to get in there to look what it says at the moment i will certainly give it a go.

    those server settings you quoted are exactly the ones i have been using without any problems for years until a few days ago. so i have put them back to what they were until i do the registry change and see what happens.
