Fingerprint reader not working on Windows 11: "This option is currently unavailable"

I recently got a Dell Inspiron with Windows 11 preloaded. The fingerprint reader was working fine at first, but now it appears to not be working with windows hello. The option to add a finger or remove the fingerprint are greyed out and not clickable.

I've seen posts about this issue in Windows 10, but the fixes aren't working for me.

Thank you Robin_Ben and thanks DCHarrison. This has been a thing since cumulative updates on my Samsung 2-1 Galaxy book pro. I followed what Robin_Ben said:

"Just right click on the said device> properties> driver and then disable the device and then again enabled it. YOUR PROBLEM IS RESOLVED!!! The exclamation sign will disappear and you will also find fingerprint options in sign in options."

Worked like a charm. much easier than searching driver and system updates. I appreciate the help

    I had the same problem.

This happens because of the new build.

If it really bothers you, you can jusr uninstall this build, as I did by going to settings , then :

Windows Uptade < Advanced options < Recovery < Go back

NB: This wont delete any of your files, so you don't need to make a backup.

There is only one driver available. After install & reboot, Setup Fingerprint reader does not even start!
