Fingerprint reader not working on Windows 11: "This option is currently unavailable"

I recently got a Dell Inspiron with Windows 11 preloaded. The fingerprint reader was working fine at first, but now it appears to not be working with windows hello. The option to add a finger or remove the fingerprint are greyed out and not clickable.

I've seen posts about this issue in Windows 10, but the fixes aren't working for me.

    Mine is really consistent now.

    If I shutdown my PC. Upon startup, the fingerprint sensor works every time.

    If I put my PC in sleep mode for a random period of time, the fingerprint reader does not work when waking up with the same error, everytime.

    How many of you are just noticing this problem when your system is coming out of sleep?

    On power up from a shutdown, does the finger print reader work every time?

    I've experienced both for awhile now.
