Fingerprint reader not working on Windows 11: "This option is currently unavailable"

I recently got a Dell Inspiron with Windows 11 preloaded. The fingerprint reader was working fine at first, but now it appears to not be working with windows hello. The option to add a finger or remove the fingerprint are greyed out and not clickable.

I've seen posts about this issue in Windows 10, but the fixes aren't working for me.

    Same thing happened on my Surface Laptop Go. I reinstalled Windows 10 and all works again.. Now that the system updates is looking like it's more officially suggesting upgrading to Windows 11, I was wondering if it is all working now? Anyone tried upgrading again?

    I have the surface laptop Go also.. how did you reinstall the windows 10? That's what I was trying to do, but could not figure out how. Clearly it's an issue with the biometric driver not working with windows 11. With all the geniuses that work for Microsoft, not sure why they haven't figured this out yet...

    Try reinstalling or try updating the drivers

    Check updates for fingerprint drivers - Search bar>Device manager>Locat biometrics> right click it and click update>2 options will be shown click both off them one after another>Restart Laptop 💻

    Idk about the pin sorry you could search it on-line

    I too have these issues with the finger print reader on my ASUS Rog laptop. Seems this is a Microsoft software issue as it transcends many manufacturers. I tried just about everything. It works for a day or so and then fails. I have all updates and drivers.

    Just today this is the status....yet again:
