How do I scan multiple pages as a PDF file in Windows 11?

If you happen to have a printer capable of the newer tech which eg Brother printers have then you don't actually need anything installed from the printer manufacturer. You can scan directly in any scanner software than can locate the printer that way.

As an example on Linux without Brother software installed, I could use the built in Linux scanner software, and it automatically finds the scanner on the network and can scan from it since the scanner includes the ability.

I don't think though that I've tried scanning on Windows 11 at all in the past year though lol. However, I have not installed anything from Brother on this copy of Windows 11 and going to Microsoft Store, installing Windows scan, and doing a test scan works just fine without a single configuration or anything else. I have not installed the printer/scanner on this computer via any means and only have made sure in Windows settings printers that its been found and assigned.

That should work too if you use the page feeder to grab multiple pages. If you have no page feeder then you're software bound anyway and there's a ton of ways to combine pdf pages into one doc anyway - that's not a scanner problem lol.

Any other issues, I'd suggest because the printer stinks or its too old and stinks that way.

*Note. I use printer and scanner freely since I use an mfc. I'm not concerned about specifics about the words. Just think scanner if you dislike the word printer lol.

Finally, have it sorted. Having tried several times to contact Epson and only getting a computer and going round in circles I had an online chat with a person.

The fix came simply by uninstalling the scan software completely (had tried before without success) then reloading the scan software. Then restarting the computer.

I then downloaded the scan patch for user interface and installed. Restarted the computer again and it all worked.

I had tried before but had not restarted after each installation.

I had unplugged and abandoned my Epson printer/scanner and did some scanning with my phone, but the quality is not really acceptable for work. I bought a Brother laser printer and continued with the phone when I really needed a scan.

I turned on my Epson printer to print a photograph and it downloaded a software upgrade that included an update for the scanner software. Lo and behold, I've just tested a multi-page document using the Epson scanning software and it's back to normal!

I don't know when they issued the update, but I'm glad to see it's been done.

I have the same problem having purchased a new HJP Laptop with windows 11 installed.

I have spent countless hours over the last 3 weeks initially getting the laptop to recognise the [printer which is now resolved.

I can print but the scan shortcut uses the windows scan which has completely different operations and I can scan a doc but it does not allow multiple pages.

I did find advice on line which made it work perfectly. However when restarted it reverted again.

I have an Epson all in one print and scan which perfectly on windows 10.

I understand that there are two modes the Epson scan and windows scan. I did find a web site that explained the issue but had no resolution. in tht it depends on which system detects the scanner. I just need a way to make it use Epson not windows.

As others have said it is deeply disappointing that an upgrade does not work and in effect is a downgrade.

I just turned my abandoned Epson back on to print a photo and it downloaded a software update that included an update for Epson Scan software. I've tested it, and it's working exactly the same as it used to (it's even holding my original settings (300dpi & save as PDF to desktop). I'm delighted. And I don't have to use Windows Scan!
