Windows 11 battery draining in sleep mode

Hi everyone,

After the upgrade to Windows 11, I've found that my laptop won't go to sleep after closing the lid. The fan keeps making noise with the lid closed, and the battery is drained.

When opening the lid again, the computer won't respond to anything (blank screen, power button does nothing, keyboard doesn't respond), but it's active because the fan is working.

This was working fine before the upgrade and is a major problem, because the battery dies pretty quickly.

Laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 530 i7 8 GB ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    For me the reason is that every loud noise at the street may wake NB from this "Modern Standby". This is most terribe and useless invention of MS I ever seen before. And there are no ways to control it.

    For instance of mine: I never use lid as an event, on every NB I have the action "nothing" on it. But now, thanks to strong grass MS developers smoke, if I press power (action set to "sleep") and THEN close the lid - NB awakes. If I set the sleep timeout for some on AC (never did it before!) and finally NB goes to sleep, but I will disconnect the AC - it wakes! If I will not disconnect the AC but moving the NB to table will touch the mouse a little - it will wake up.

    So the only way is to varnish this "Paranoic Standby" at all, but IT IS ALSO NOT POSSIBLE! Because MS knows better whhat is good for us.

    Screen off is when the system is in low power mode. During work hours, someone may want to keep it there the entire 8 hours. It is instant on (Bluetooth or power button) from there and should pop up messages like your phone does while the screen is off.

    I set mine to hibernate after about two hours to save battery drain.

    I may need to work with mine some more, since some of these situations may have changed.

    Could you elaborate on the BIOS features that Windows 11 needs upgraded to support sleep mode?

    Maybe there is some KB article you can point me to?

    Unfortunately this likely mean you need to update a BIOS to make it compatible with Windows 11. Please ask Lenovo support for Windows 11 compatible BIOS and drivers.
