Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

Gabriel, we've all had our annoyances with Microsoft over time, and like all companies they do have an inflated sense of their place in the world. That doesn't mean that all their products are no good, all their users fools and all their supporters dupes of the system. I realize that goes a bit beyond your words, but not, I think, beyond the underlying implication.

All that aside, this forum would be a much more useful place if everyone limited themselves to commenting on the actual issue. Posts like yours generate notices to people (to me in particular) that a new answer or comment has been posted, and it is very disappointing to find that yet another person has added no information but only their irritation.

folder thumbnail previews are back, if you switch to insider preview beta channel, they are not as good though

a little small but they will prob iron that out in the final public update release.
