Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders

My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.

I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.

Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

    Hi all

As Dave says above, the best thing to do is provide feedback on the Windows 11 Feeback hub. To do this, either click the windows key + F, or click on the start icon on your computer and type in the words 'Feedback hub' and it will show you the Feedback Hub App. Click on this to open.

I don't work for Microsoft and am just a punter like everyone else, but I started a thread on the Feedback hub 3 months ago on this issue called "no folder contents previews in Windows 11", so do a search for that in the search bar in the hub.

You can then either upvote it (currently nearly 500 upvotes) or you can provide a comment. The more people who do this the more likely it is that Microsoft will do something about the issue (they have looked at the thread and provided a totally useless update!).

As a professional photographer, not being able to see the contents of folders via a thumbnail preview is doing my nut in and making my working life really difficult! The issue needs sorting asap.

    Hi,

I used the Win - 11 feedback hub. You can click an option to submit online which will then send you updates. There was already a topic in there already, but it encourages you to add to it. They need to know how to prioritize so get your voice in.

It is not a thread like here. You cannot see the other people's input. That is because of privacy. At the hub you are welcome to upload anything relevant such as dump files and screenshots. So obviously they cannot share that.

Alot of people here. I all who have not already done this add their voice I think they will hear it and fix it.

Has anyone heard explicitly from MS that this is a dropped feature or a bug? It is really hard to believe they dropped it intentionally.

This is worth open another MS account to add my voice more than once !!! :)

I am sorry, I made a mistake. That site seems to apply only to applications. Onedrive was my problem.

Looks like the best solution is to simply use the feedback hub in windows 10. Hit Win-key feed...

Honestly, I never knew that feature was there. I'm going to read the rest of that article and see if there are other places. Again, the more the better.

Oh, the moderator on my other thread also recommended taking it to social media. Maybe we can make it go viral.

PS: also be publicly vocal about your complaints.  Post on social mediahttps://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/industry-blog/microsoft-in-business/media-comm/2017/04/18/microsoft-uses-social-media-create-customer-experience/ .

    Hi,

I want to remind everyone on this thread that these are not MS employs at this site. They are MVP's who volunteers to provide support, not necessarily enhancement requests. This is what I was told on another forum topic.

That moderator gave me the following place to put in bug and enhancement requests. He said this is "beta" put working. Knowing some developers at MS I know that this is data that will in one form of another get to the development.

There is also a new web based “Feedback Portal” in development. It is still labelled “Preview”. It provides functionality similar to the feedback hub. Access to feedbacks submitted in 34 categories. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/

I really hope everyone with this issue uses this to lodge this issue. I think we some many of us it will get attention and cannot be difficult to restore.

Even if this sites info is going back it won't hurt to double it.

He also first provides the following ling to the following ARTICLE on where to submit feedback. As you can image needed an article to describe the process sort of implies it is not good and maybe why the new one.
