The Windows 11 2022 update brings Thumbnail previews to folders.
Windows 11: Thumbnail previews do not show on folders
My folders are appearing as blank folder icons, where in Win 10 they showed thumbnail previews of the contents.
I've searched online for answers, and most appear to apply to earlier versions, and tell me to uncheck the 'icon only, no thumbnail' choice in View|Options, but that is already unchecked, so that is not the answer.
Does anyone have an actual working answer? Thanks if you do!

2022-10-07T19:12:37+00:00 Thanks, BruceBertrand!
Yes, thanks, though I’d say they’re “half-back.”
The function, “Show a file on this folder icon,” works with the shown result, but (an this is a BIG BUT, it doesn’t work like ‘10.
It’s been suggested there was OS issues showing the full picture file, and keeping it there.
God knows! Perhaps MSDN will admit that, and we can be done with it.

2022-10-07T13:46:11+00:00 you could also buy a new computer with windows vista in 2006 doesnt mean it was a finished product. Windows 11 is the 1st of a major change , so windows 12 will be like windows vista to windows 7.

2022-10-07T04:55:24+00:00 It's not you doing anything wrong William! For some reason known only to Microsoft, they have only included half previews of folder contents for the Pictures folder - it's no good to man nor beast.
Folder contents in previous windows Pictures, showing the first full picture in the folder, & sub folders worked fine for years. It wasn't broken, yet Microsoft decided to fix it. Just bring it back like it was please, that's all we are asking. You must have the code to do that, being as though it used to work that way.
As a photographer, I have tens of thousands of images on my computer. How on earth am I supposed to find anything when I can't see what's in my folders? It's hugely impacting my working life.

2022-09-22T03:20:33+00:00 If you download win 11 iso from Microsoft today it has the update already installed and new oobe, that is the solution ,clean install of the latest build ,https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows11
Thank you, I never realized that. In my past clean installs after those errors, I would have to do all the updates. I'd never had a way to put a new clean install with all updates together, so this may finally be my solution. As soon as I make backups in case something was still waiting for the regular backup to go through, I will try this.
One question, will this be able to go on USB, because I don't have the disc drive in my laptop. Thank you again.
