Realtek 5.1/7.1 surround speaker issue in Windows 11.

Hi,

Since I upgraded to Windows 11 a few days ago, I now no longer have the option in sound settings to enable 5.1 or 7.1 surround support, as I did in Windows 10. At least I believe that I had that option in Windows 10, all I have now is stereo only and I miss the added depth of sound of my 5.1 speakers. Am I failing to see the obvious, or is this an oversight in the programming. If anyone has any thoughts on solving this issue it would be most welcome. I admit I have not tried installing the Realtek Audio Manager, as that file looks as though it may not be compatible with Windows 11 although it did function in Windows 10.

This is the last reply to you coz it sounds like you are plugging netflix.

Point being I have Razar THX and I have DTSX because I want it to work on Other media too. Like Virtual stuff and the fact is it is broken.

When I try to send audio to any other speaker than left and right the AVR gets a pcm 2,0 signal only. This is because windows has prevented it to shift over.

I have even media player to use spdif on 5.1 and windows resets it as the setting is invalid..

The problem is Wholey Microsoft at this time.

When I had windows 10 it was working and now on windows 11 it is not working.

I can play the compatibility test with DTS and Dolby because it's a pre encoded sound file. but this doesn't explain when I have a program licenced by me and paid for that windows refuses to send encoded file even when media player is set to pass it to then receiver.

Personally If you work in support I would have fired you..

Also your explanation is false when you say PCM cannot be sent because they can through optical. Optical can support up to 16 channels max. so when windows is unable to send 6-8 channels, so stop blaming the pcee licence because it is not at fault. Microsoft's implementation to process the file into 2.0 channels even when told to pass onto decoder as is.

I agree alot of people don't know about the pcee licence needed but as a creater I know about it.

So **** and stop telling lies and FFS stop plugging Netflix.

You don't need DTS X app for windows 11. It's similar to Dolby Atmos. You only required to buy an av receiver that is DTS X or Dolby Atmos capable. Then you play your movie in your Blu-Ray software player on your computer with HDMI out to your av receiver. You only have to pay for the app for the Headphone or for games.

You don't need the DTS X app or the Dolby Atmos app on pc when you play a Blu-Ray movie on a pc because your Blu-Ray software player would have paid the licensing fee and your av receiver would have paid the licensing fee.

So you are telling me that you have to download some modded software from an unknown source to get it working --- it's on the last comment on the first page, it's unsigned driver.

You do know what it means? It means that it's stolen. It was a signed driver for a specific motherboard or computer model (which Asus or Dell paid for that specific computer model). Then some people took that driver and modded it so that other people with motherboards and computer models that didn't pay for it would be able to use it.

Your computer will work 100% correctly with 5.1 optical out if you use the Netflix app.

unlike some people just **** on everyone's post I actually found something that people may find useful.

Ignore JosephT71 unconstructive I'll repeat this like a parrot and not be helpful attitude.

The options are to pay for dtsx which should come with a pcee app but the fact is windows 11 is stopping it.

Someone has nicely posted some pcee apps for free so have a look.

Stop telling me I have not paid for it because I have paid for DTSX as well. So stop telling lies..

I have paid for the use of 5.1 audio even if I had to pay seporately and installed the codec.

Windows 11 is broken and still will not play 5.1 audio through spdif . And yes I have K-lite and it keeps resetting to 2 channel too so something in Microsoft windows is doing it.
