How to disable news and interest in Windows 11 widget

I want to keep the widget on my task bar, however I don't want the new stories to show. I've hide a bunch of them and they still end up showing, but I'm constantly having to hide them all since there are sooooo many. How do I disable the top stories, and the news and interest without turning off my widgets. I ONLY want the weather to show.

I've uninstalled microsoft news but I'm still seeing the news stories.

With the February update to Windows 11 - you have the option to disable MS start to feed from the Widget Settings. Requires Windows 11 23H2 at least.

I would suggest that you completely remove the the Widgets app from your taskbar - see here -and pin the Weather App to Start / Taskbar.

    Sweet, just in time, Windows 12 is supposed to be released in 2024, which will probably break it again.

    Nope. If you'd read the thread, the question is how to turn off the fake news without disabling the widgets.

    The answer is you cannot. This is a known fact. All of these widgets and whatnot belong to "The Web Experience Pack." To solve these problems, you must pull this feature out by the roots. To wit

    To uninstall “The Web Experience Pack” using Windows PowerShell, please follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key and type PowerShell.
    2. Right-click on the Windows PowerShell app and select Run as administrator.
    3. Copy and paste the following command into the PowerShell window and press Enter: winget uninstall "windows web experience pack"

    This solution is definitive. Your journey is over.

    FINALLY! -- Here it is. -- There is a feature of Windows called "The Web Experience Pack" that comes installed. It can be uninstalled. There is simple, short and sweet, single command you enter at the RUN prompt. Hold down the Windows Logo key while you press R. This opens a window with a command prompt where you type in the following command: 

    winget uninstall "windows web experience pack"

    That worked for me. In only 20 seconds. And I was free!

    ADVISORY -- These so-called "widgets" are a feature only in the "web experience pack." The "Pack" is made out of widgets. It is perhaps the worst single example of bloatware in all History. Getting rid of this thing will really make your computer nicer, cleaner. In any event, you must use this command to get rid of the Pack and all its eggs as well. I am not kidding. It is a bug nest. Still, Microsoft uses other techniques to get nosey with your shopping using the Internet.
