I did almost the same thing, except I installed Win 11 Home on a different partition (keeping the old one with Win 10 to refer back to if need be) and reinstalled all the applications (except a few which I forgot what they were for and hadn't used in a VERY long time) and copied the files from the old partition to the new one. Since I had already upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 on 5 partitions on this computer I gave up trying to get Microsoft to help!. You have me beet in the number of years of computer experience I have only 47 years in the business.
Cannot install Windows 11 - Error 0xc1900101
I am trying to install the new Windows 11 update from Windows Update, but I keep getting error 0xc1900101.
The installation starts, and after a couple restarts, it says:
" Attempting to recover installation "
" Undoing changes made to your computer "
And then I am greeted with error 0xc1900101 on Windows Update.

2022-01-11T06:09:56+00:00 This seems to be an issue with the mother boards not ready for win 11, once i had an update done, it resulted too drivers not being updated for the GPU. Now after mother board replacement (as the previous one stopped recognizing drivers and did not allow to install new once for GPU) and some hot fixes from ASUS and maybe windows(not really sure) it prevents to install win 11 as the motherboard drivers are still not ready for it, guessing that when the mb drivers will be configured and released you will get notified to update and then try the win11.

If it is an Asus device, likely the problem lies with Asus System Interface version 3. See the solution in this thread.
