Happened to me, too. I now use the Update Installation tool:
Cannot install Windows 11 - Error 0xc1900101
I am trying to install the new Windows 11 update from Windows Update, but I keep getting error 0xc1900101.
The installation starts, and after a couple restarts, it says:
" Attempting to recover installation "
" Undoing changes made to your computer "
And then I am greeted with error 0xc1900101 on Windows Update.

2021-10-25T07:50:42+00:00 I don't understand the response but I'm using my unique user name in a genuine copy of the Operating System (W10Pro). See my other response below
Health check says it's Ok and it's a Microsoft Surface Go only about 3 months old.
I ran MS recommended checks to see Op system OK and got 100% OK.
Mysteriously the update to W11 has now disappeared from my laptop update page (and I haven't updated it is still W10Pro). I can only assume it's been withdrawn for the cohort of m/c's my tablet fell into. It would be nice if MS was a little less secretive.........
