I am trying to install the new Windows 11 update from Windows Update, but I keep getting error 0xc1900101.

The installation starts, and after a couple restarts, it says:

" Attempting to recover installation "

" Undoing changes made to your computer "

And then I am greeted with error 0xc1900101 on Windows Update.

I tried many times and all of a sudden this week it presented an update again, I agreed, and it worked marvelously booting up in win11 and working great everysince. I don't know what if anything I did but suspect maybe microsoft made some changed in setup program that may have caused problems previously.

I'm facing the same issue with my Dell Inspiron 5510 i5 11th gen.

So disappointing to find that a machine purchased just weeks before Windows 11 launched, can't install the update properly.

Now I'm stuck in a never ending cycle of the OS trying to update itself every chance it gets.

Dell Support has given up and asked me to install Windows from scratch.

This is a Dell laptop - I shouldn't be having these issues.

I have the same issue with an Intel NUC. At first, I was excited about getting the "latest and greatest" from Microsoft. I tried many things, all without success. Nobody is able to say, "this is what is causing your problem." That is the reason nobody has been able to say, for certain, how to fix it. It's all been alchemy up to this point.

I'm ready to say I'm stuck with Windows 10 - which, after all, is working just fine except for the constant attempts to upgrade. Maybe all I can hope for is a way to stop the upgrade cycle.
