Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    Updating the BIOS varies from pc manufacturer, you would have to check on the manufacturer’s website to see if there’s anything available.

    In order to update drivers you would have to be able to boot into Windows.

    Can you boot into safe mode? Try force restarting the pc three times & you should reach the troubleshoot menu where you can enter safe mode with networking.

    If that doesn’t work then we’re back to reinstalling Windows imo.

    How do I update BIOS and how do I update driver?

    By the way I cannot boot anymore the BSOD appears right before sign in screen.

    Glad that you’re making progress. :D

    Several suggestions for that error:

    Your BIOS isn’t up to date.

    There’s a driver conflict.

    A driver requires updating - possibly the graphics card driver.

    First run sfc & DISM:

    Right click on start & choose powershell with admin & enter:

    SFC /SCANNOW

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    OH MY GOD!! I CAN BOOT!! I replaced the wdboot and wdfilter, last time it failed is because I possibly chose to Continue to Windows 10 instead of Turn off this PC. But now comes to my first problem, Thread Stuck in Device Driver. Do you know how to fix this? I cannot boot into safe mode either.
