Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    I deleted the old wdboot.sys and replaced with the one I downloaded. By that time when you sent me the mediafire I already replaced it.

    I haven't done the restore, just making sure.

    Can you elaborate - what do you mean when you say you ‘kind of replaced the .sys’?

    Have you run system restore to undo the file replacement?

    You want to start your computer, PC, laptop, notebook or server and only an error message appears with the heading in English that says that your PC needs to be repaired?

    The following file may even be named:

    \ EFI \ Microsoft \ Boot \ BCD

    The error code can change and has therefore been replaced by zeros in our example image.

    I kind of replaced the sys, but now 0x0000001 "After multiple tries, pc cannot boot" or something like that. I tried startup repair and it suggested me to do system restore.
