8th gen hardware has come down in price quite considerably as you can get an i3 8100 at between £70 to £90 if you're on a budget and want to take the plunge to win11 but I would say to wait and save the money till we get more clarification on the 7th gen hardware
Don't give up yet. Some people on this thread report that an I3 7100 (my CPU) works just fine. MS won't allow me to download win 11, but I'm trying to find a beta version to try on my machine.
Whether I can do this or not, there is no reason to panic. It will be another 3-5 years before they stop supporting it, and I expect there will be many support forums all over the world by then. If MS puts out a poison pill at that point, I'll start using Linux full time (I play around with it now). In the mean-time, I'll keep an eye out for 8th+ CPUs. This perfectly good CPU is the only weakness in my main PC and I've intended to upgrade anyway.
I've just found out that my HP laptop with Intel Core i3 7th Gen is not compatible with Windows 11.
8Gb de RAM
256Gb SATA 6Gbps M.2
TPM 2.0 activated
Etc etc etc.
My laptop meets all the requirements except the processor. Looks like Microsoft made a good deal with Intel and AMD to boost PC sales...
My processor i3. 7th gen alone not compatible.rest are ok.so win 11 is not updated. Only win 10 update is done
Disappointed. Every time we cannot afford to purchase new processor
