Cannot see own wireless network but can see others around me

Hi all,

Seemingly after last Windows update (though I'm not sure) I cannot see my own wireless network on my home laptop. I can see all the networks of my neighbors, but not my own.

I can see it and connect to my wireless network with my Work laptop. My partner can see it and connect to it with her two laptops and her smartphone.

I checked the wireless network adapter (Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC) and when I click Properties and then Configure, the General tab says "This device is working properly." However, when I look at the icon in the Control Panel under Network Connections there is a big red X next to the Wi-Fi icon and it says "Not Connected".

When I click the Diagnose button the result is "You have not chosen to connect to any of the available networks" (and I can't since I don't know the security keys for those networks). Then skipping to the next step, the next window says "None of the networks you have previously connected to are in range"

Any advice?

    this old post is my savior. after more than a year my laptop cannot connected to my own wifi. i change the mode for my 2.4 to b+g+n and 5ghz to b+g+n+ac (remove ax for both mode). Thank you so much Ioannis!! thank you!!

    A solution that worked for us was:-

    On the Modem check the channel selection and take it off auto. We set it to Channel 11. All of a sudden then network was seen in the list. It seems the older PC we have has a WiFi card that can't see channel 12 onwards. All our other devices can. It could see the hotspots ok on other channels but not the modems auto selected channel of 12.

    We did try resetting everything and turning on/off bands, this for us did nothing. Windows already said drivers etc,ok.

    Hi Peter,

    Uninstall the wireless adapter in Device Manager and then reboot machine and it will automatically find and reinstall the adapter.

    I tried many different things many different times, all the options in this thread, none except the nuclear option above worked...

    I faced the same problem and worked on it 2 days with no positive result: looking for network drivers, updating, etc, etc.

    This morning I called the internet provider, they made a check / update on their side and problem solved in 5 min.

    So, I adivse you to call your internet provider and to explain the issue you have.
