Not so fast! On installing this update.
Installed KB5003690 (tried) on five rigs. Three no issue, one refused to install, and worst of all one started BSOD constantly after installing. Removed from that rig and all was fine and returned to normal. Reinstalled KB5003690 to verify this was the issue and yes, the BSOD issues returned, again uninstalled and all returned normal again. I'm satisfied in saying that KB5003690 is / was the issue.

As I installed KB5004945 anyway - not knowing that KB5003690 is included - I will see what happens next. But I have little hope the bsod problem will disappear. I am going to report tomorrow. The whole situation is so annoying - and I really ask myself, why Microsoft doesn`t leave any comments here.
Well it may not be intentional, but that's what it does on my system. VLC and media player work fine, but YT on Firefox and Chrome buffer then continue without sound. I even uninstalled then reinstalled my audio and video drivers with no improvement. This does NOT happen with Edge which is, yes, Chromium-based...go figure. Uninstalled KB5004945 and all is well again. I have since blocked-out this update from installing. I have a theory: Since I am led to understand that Windows 11 will not work with AMD Vishera and Bulldozer processors, and these Win 10 updates are a pre-cursor to transition to Win 11, these updates will screw-up pre-Ryzen AMD machines. Just a theory on my part, but I believe MS knows exactly what is really going on. Bring Bill back and fix this, please.

So, the other day I first completely removed the KB5003690 update and the BSODs finally stopped: the computer has been running for hours without any problems.
So, just today, it came automatically and I installed the July (2021-07) monthly rollup update KB5004945.
For the moment, after nearly 10 hours of uninterrupted activity, no BSODs have occurred.
I don't know how long this (lucky?) situation will last, but for the moment it is.
That didnt happen on any single one of comps, so I dont think that is intentional.
Even the one that got BSODs, sound was working fine in Firefox (which I use as my main browser).
Doesnt both Firefox and Chrome (Edge is based on chromium now too) use DirectSound or Direct Kernel streaming for audio?
If it worked on edge and on media players like VLC MPCHC...spotify etc, it should work on Firefox and Chrome.
