driver updates greyed out

i trust you more than dell or geek squad  for your help

 i ned to get updates besides the 20H2 is that safe

according to op specs this is  what it says version1909. See I had to reinstall the operating system was done by afriend not sure what he used  to reinstall  but this is what it says installed on 12 6 2020 os build18363.1256. I tried updating to the  2oH2 update before the reinstall and that is why  i had to reinstall it messed up a ot of  things on windows. Task schedule, event viewer  and MMC all had Cslid errors. could not open  quick assist nor install support assist and power shell did not  work   so i had my fried reinstall the operating  system and then  to be safe took it to geek squad . After those errors and  a trip to geek squad as well i am leary of installing  the 20 H2 update for fear it  will mess  all those  things  again I could not get the 2004 update either .  i do not want to mess up this again  any advice  should  i  update the ocyober update . Even geek squad did not update it to that  update

an the trouble shoot did not find any thing.    it is asking me to update  the october update which i am leary about last time  i did that i had all sorts of errors. everytime  i try and  check for updates says up to date

 .  I am confused on what you want me to do i am not computer savvy and am afraid o mess  up the computer. there are so many things you listed am confused it would be great if we could do aremote session so you could see the problem and do the steps you suggested

It should not be this way and I'll try to help you fix it, but keep in mind you can uninstall or Update drivers in the Device Manager as well. Windows drivers are also ancillary to the more important drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer's drivers current. Windows drivers are rarely enough.

That said, I'll give you everything possible for fixing failed Windows Updates, so that at least something will work. Even if you've tried a step, please do it over in sequence. Report back any steps that cannot be performed and why:

Some Updates will sort themselves out in a few days so I'd wait to see. If not or they are bothering you then here are steps you can take:

1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter from Windows Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
2. Go through this checklist from Microsoft with the latest fixes for Windows Updates:

3. Type Services in Search box, run Services app as Administrator, open Windows Update Service and Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Stop both.

Press “Windows (flag) key + R,” copy and paste C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ press the Enter button.

This folder has all the files related to Windows updates.

Open the “Download” folder, select and delete all the files.

Restart Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services in Services app by opening both and choosing Start.

4. If that fails try manually resetting Windows Update Service with the commands here:

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

8. If you have an older version or if nothing else works then while I am here to help you I would manually upgrade to the latest version by opening the Media Creation Tool from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-10/m..., choose Download Tool Now, then open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This saves your files, apps and most settings in place, is the most stable method to change versions, brings your Updates current, resolves most problems.
