Scott,  Thanks for the suggestions.  Unfortunately, the version I have is the same as you sent.  Also my city is one that is off by the 100,000,000 exactly and I even tried hardcoding the $city just to be safe.  My problem is I can't even save the city in the windows app.  I changed so many things trying to figure out if there was some work around for the USB reconnection issue, that I can't get back to where I was a couple days ago.

First, I want to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into getting these forecasters working again.  Like many others, I've had mine for a very long time and I've been through the occasional server outages with them over the years but none that ever lasted that long.  I followed your instructions shortly after you first posted them and my forecaster is working great again.

One thing though; since installing the Wamp server, I've started getting a lot of security notifications daily that my Norton Internet Security program keeps blocking a high risk web attack called Masscan Scanner Request that's coming from the Wamp\Bin\Apache\Apache2.4.9\Bin\httpd.exe file.

I'm concerned now that I may be risking my computer security with the Wamp Apache setup.  Has this been happening to anyone else since the install and if so, is it a concern?

Ok, let's check a few things.  First, if you don't see the green WampServer icon in the bottom right part of your screen in the system tray, you can click on the start button and type 'services.msc' in the search box (or, alternatively, you can select 'Run' and then type in 'services.msc'.  In the resulting box, scroll down until you see an entry titled 'wampapache'.  Look at the status (third column over).  It should say 'started'.  If not, then the WampServer did not start properly.

Next, double-check the 'httpd.conf' file by double-clicking it in the 'c:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.9\conf' folder (I use Notepad to open it up).  Almost exactly half-way down the long list of entries should be a section that looks like this (the important part is the part that I have bolded).  That entry SHOULD be there.  If it's not, you'll need to enter it.

Note that from this point forward you must specifically allow

particular features to be enabled - so if something's not working as

you might expect, make sure that you have specifically enabled it

Next, make sure that when the program calls for data that it doesn't go looking for the old servers.  That is done in the 'hosts' file that is located in the 'c:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts'  folder.  Open the Notepad application from the Start menu by right-clicking on the Notepad icon and then selecting ‘Run as administrator’.  You may have to select 'All Files (*.*) in the lower right of Notepad in order to see all the files).  Once the file is open, make sure the following three lines are in there:

127.0.0.1             server1.netinfostation.com

127.0.0.1             server2.netinfostation.com

127.0.0.1             server3.netinfostation.com

Lastly, make sure your API Key is entered correctly.  You can open it by going to 'c:\wamp\www' and then double-clicking the file called 'getweather.php' and again using Notepad as the editor.  The very first two lines should look like this (with your particular key instead of the sample one below) paying particular attention to the single quotes at either end of the key:

If you end up making any changes to anything mentioned here, reboot when done, and then say a prayer.  :)  Hopefully it will now be working and receiving data.

Many thanks for getting back to me.  I think I know where the problem exists, but I'm not sure how to fix it.  First, the green wampserver icon doesn't appear in the bottom right toolbar.  So I clicked on the wampserver icon and the icon does appear in the bottom right, but it is orange, not green.  I then went to services.msc and saw that wampserver was not started.  I tried to start it manually and got the message "Windows could not start the wampapache on Local Computer.  For more information, review the System Event Log.  If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code 1."  Do you have any suggestions as to how I can get the wampserver icon to turn green in the lower right toolbar and how to get it to automatically come on everytime I start my computer.  Hopefully, if I can get the wampserver to turn green and boot on at startup, then this weather station will get the updates.  What do you think?  thanks again, Randy
