WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

Image

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

Finally got monthly updates yesterday first thing, rest of day OK. Booted this morning all OK. Booted 30 minutes ago late morning - worst problem I have had with WAAS medic to date, virtually unusable for good 10 minutes. Boot procedure seemed different. Got to Lock screen, normally leave for up to a minute before clicking & progressing to log-in screen. Today log-on screen appeared without prompt, then disappeared, clicked and screen a few seconds later & re-appeared so could log-in but felt a bit laboured. Got in but system tray icons not all there for a minute or two. Eventually managed to open Task Manager, normal system, etc on listing with WAASMedic taking a large proportion of disc which gradually grew. Trying to open any apps just stalled. Returned to normal when that completed. Restarted OK. MICROSOFT SORT IT NOW PLEASE - looks as though this month's updates have not addressed this issue. During Task Manager Dell support Assistant was running with Dell Health ? running, opened , checked & it shows update available with choice to install or not, no notifications shown - normally don't get the choice no doubt it will update itself as normal.

Early PM UK - still no updates coming down. The MSWRT is normally part of monthly release, came thru' OK. The Intel one would normally be a mid term one, this showed the ERROR so does the actual released update not include the normal cumulative updates, cannot locate exactly what the Intel file is that was updated, this apparently is an re-issue of previous update. February release actually picked up automatically late on the Tuesday afternoon, not 1st thing Wednesday as normal. Thanks MarcHoppe (notification came thru' just as I way typing this) for confirming you have same issue, nice to know it is not me only. Updates seem to have gone from bad to worse now. What is going on at Microsoft - looks as they they are in a hole & digging it deeper.

I'm getting the same thing. Only the Malicious Software tool was installed today and even after two manual checks no other updates are offered. I think it's pretty clear something has gone wonky with recent Win 10 updates and M$ knows it. The fact that there is no Patch Tuesday update yet is proof. The WaasMedic issue is gone today on two systems so far here. I've got a couple more to check. But it has gone away before and come back so I'll keep an eye on it....
