WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

That's not a solution it's a workaround. Microsoft must provide a solution. If you go faffing about in the registry you'll only make things worse. The problem is not that WaasMedic is running the problem is that it's running for so long and for some people so often. It's designed to fix problems not cause them.  

Sorry if it wasn't helpful, but I never said it causes problem. It only make my laptop slow, As I quoted

It Checks "At 3:00 AM on 10/15/2000 - After triggered, repeat every 1.00:00:00 indefinitely." (But It's a One time Thing). But this is the trigger leading on to,

The Next time MaaSMedic will run, is about 17 hours after the last run. Don't quote me I don't know the real time.

It starts if the user is logged in or not. Leading to why I suggested to disable it, I never said you need to disable other Windows Services just MaaSMedic Agenet since it just checking to see if all the Windows Services is Active, but if it isn't they activate it for you and protect the update components.

And also the Registry was only for disabling it, you can easy reverse the process by changing the number back to 3

or if you have a exported registry somewhere on you device you can easy open and it turn it back.

WaaSMedic isn't a Service needed for downloading or Updates it only needed for remediation and protection of windows Update Components.  Which in my case is fine since I got rid of my Windows Update Service. Since I don't know anyone else's situation I don't have a better Fix.

Meaning that you don't need this running at all, The problem I've been facing that I have to open task manger every time I open my laptop, because on the days I don't open task manger my laptop is as slow as it can be making work hard. So I'm here with an solution to your problem.

So WaaSMedic has a thing making it impossible to disable it from services, so we are going to use Registry Editor.

First Open Registry Editor: 2 easy Methods

1: Win + R to open run , then in the box Type  "regedit" Enter.

2: In the Search bar type Registry Editor, then open the program.

Next Find WaaSMeddic in this folder.

"Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WaaSMedicSvc"

Next Find the Value Name "Start"

Click on it so you can Modify it, and Where you see the Data Value, change the 3 to 4.

This will disable the service.

After that, you can make sure the program doesn't come back by disabling it in Task Scheduler, There are a lot Windows Service Auto turning on because Task Scheduler is programed to turn it on.

So Open Task Scheduler by: 2 easy Methods

1: Win + R to open run , then type in the box "taskschd.msc" Enter.

2: In the Search bar type "Task Scheduler" Run a Administrator.

Find the task want to disable, an then disable them.

They Should be in "Microsoft\Windows "

For the people that don't have permission from your system to use Task Scheduler.

For the people that don't permission to disable these Task even with Administrator.

To get Permission to disable these you need to Download

PsTools****and if that download link didn't work then the page is Here

Next Extract it into a folder.

After that open "cmd.exe"****As Administrator 

Navigateto the folder where you extracted the tools by typing "cd C:\Users\Username\Desktop\Pstools", replace Usernamewith your username and Pstoolswith the folder where you extracted the tools.

Whenyou have navigated to the correct folder, copy the followingcommand without the quotes: "psexec.exe -i -s %windir%\system32\mmc.exe /s taskschd.msc".

Open the commandwindow and right click, choose paste. Press enter. Make sure to accept any Eula that pops up.

This is an Example of one of Windows Services that you can Disable if you want.

Navigate to Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> UpdateOrchestrator.

Right click the task called Reboot and click on Disable.

The task should now be disabled.

The problem with being a "Windows lover" is that it blinds people to the facts and keeps them in defense mode constantly looking for something else to blame for Windows' problems. There are already other threads concerning WaasMedic. In one a "Microsoft Agent" wrote "By design, WaasMedic is only going to work if it finds a problem with Windows Update". That is not correct. It runs by schedule every seven days. On one system this morning that hadn't been booted since the last scheduled run on Sunday the 18th WaasMedic ran for 7 minutes at or near 100% disk activity. So what is it "fixing" every week and if it's fixing something then M$ is breaking something every week. It showed no network activity so it's not downloading anything but simply grinding away at our drives reducing their lifespans.                                                                                                                 

In that same thread the Microsoft Agent wrote "We got to involve Paul in the original thread WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working - Microsoft Community, and he'd like to start collecting high CPU or high disk usage cases of the WaasMedic agent through Feedback Hub entry, and Feedback URLs on that thread.

We will continue to focus only in that thread to better support this issue".

So where is "Paul" ? Where is the interaction from M$ Agents in this thread if they are "focusing" on it ? They are simply ignoring the issue since apparanlty M$ has no clue why WaasMedic needs to grind away at our harddrive at least once a week and accorinding to some reports every day.

1. Updates installed when issue, Windows checks at least 2ce a day for any new issued updates.
2. System maintenance/trouble shoot runs automatically as a regular MS task. Did have errors sometimes with updates but these disappeared over 3 months ago.
3. AV OK, Window Defender installed - no 'unusual software' nothing new installed for 2 years.
4. A system should very, very rarely use 100% disc so the fact it does is cause to worry as this infers a problem.
5. No need for a new thread as this thread is in connection with WaasMedic using 100% disc on frequent occasions - I have only had the issue once - normally WaasMedic running takes 50% usage including all other processes, as this happens at boot, a large amount of disc is required to load system files, app start--ups etc. (in my case minimal number)

I do have a Dell computer but I assume all contributors to this thread have various other makes.
