WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Ive been at 100% disk usage due to WaasMedic Agent exe as well. Whoever mentioned that microsoft picks and chooses when to hijack my computer is the understatement of the century. Unlike the other usual microsoft disk access hijackers, this one completely hinders me from doing anything. I can maybe load a program but then it immediately crashes. I have several assignment due dates today and i cant get to the upload page before it crashes. F__k you microsoft, it appears as if you hire software engineers that havnt the slightest clue of what the phrase "practical application" means. But then again its like you dont care cause this is far from the first process you've implimented that causes this maxed out disk usage problem. Doesnt even suprise me that someone with an SSD reported 100% disk usuage.

    I am terminating the process, wish me luck boys.

    WaaSmedic Agent Exe.

    5 horsemen of apocalypse. These are running in background and my laptop with 16gb of ddr4 ram is completely unusable. Any app including windows explorer are so slow to the point of not responding and crashing. I just can't work or be productive like this.

    Windows wants to install/repair updates? Sure, I'd be fine if I had choice to shut it down/restart and let it install everything and then work like a normal person. But I don't have that choice, these apps will be running in background just when I need computer the most.

    Microsoft need to address this issue. Terrible user experience.

    I like Windows10 until automatic update starts. Its virus-like behavior really makes me think of buying a Mac.

    One hour and counting for 100% disk usage. Can do work but everything VERY slow. E.g., click to open a web browser, go to kitchen, make a medium Americano with steamed milk from scratch (starting with grinding beans, packing portafilter....) return to computer, take a few sips of coffee and Oooo FINALLY, the browser opens!

    CAUSES: The Flash removal update (totally unecessary) failures show every day from 2/17 until 2/22 when it ran successfully. (Failures probably due to Adobe forced removal - without my permission - in early Jan. There was nothing left to remove. (Actually, I think the fix is like the SECDRV thing - it is to prevent you from re-installing Flash as Adobe there is probably a licensing / royalties clash with the original rites owner for some of the underlying Flash tech which MS and Adobe don't want to pay, so users are the pawns that get sacrificed in the battle.)

    But the bigger cause was that, during a "Disk Cleanup->Cleanup System Files" operation I selected "Windows Update Cleanup" (4.6 GB's worth of supposedly no longer needed files) during my last session yesterday. Then today - damn near unusable for over an hour plus the message that "2021-02 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems (KB4601382)" failed. So it appears the supposedly unecessary Windows Update files cleaned by "Cleanup System Files" WERE NECESSARY after all, and thus Windows Update is now in need of repair.

    LESSON: When cleaning up system files, NEVER SELECT "Windows Update Cleanup" unless you want to screw up your machine.
