WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    For God's sake - why is this still a problem 7 MONTHS LATER?

    I just had to submit a Feedback Hub report on this SAME ISSUE today. Surely Microsoft has the resources to have fixed this by now???

    No that's not it. The WaaS issue occurs on systems that only have Microsoft Defender. A third party AV solution can certainly add to the run time but is not the cause.

    Anyway I've noticed on my studio computer that WaaS has been running on Fridays as well as Sundays. It runs for about five and a half minutes each day instead of running for 11 minute plus every Sunday as before. So is Microsoft's solution to break up the run into two days to make it seem like it's running for a shorter time as we all watch it on Sunday? There is NO reason WaaS needs to scan and read the same files twice a week every week.

    Paul says that screenshots don't do any good but they would if he actually knew what to look for. I doubt that the Feedback Hub reports I generated today will ever make it to someone at Microsoft that might just might actually know what they are doing.

    With Windows 11 right around the corner I imagine 10 will be orphaned and any issues will go unaddressed as the WaaS issue has for six months.

    So for anyone with an older computer the solution will be to run Linux since Win 11 requires newer system specs. It's funny how much Win 11 "borrows" from Linux. It's too bad it won't also borrow the concept that an Operating System shouldn't be Spyware and Malware and that an OS should be lean and efficient and not bloated with data mining systems. .

    MarcHoppe - Orson Wells 1984 now been replaced by Microsoft 2021 version. Why can't MS just allow us to run our lives as we wish to run our lives. As there has been no MS response to Feedback Hub submissions, this seems to confirm they don't care a ****.

    Happy WaaS Day everyone! Well WaaS is making my laptop nearly unusable AGAIN. I checked when I booted it and the WaaS registry key was set to 4 which means it's not supposed to run. Well a few minutes after boot that key was changed back to 3 and WaaS was happily grinding away at my hard drive for 15+ minutes. MAKE IT STOP!!!!!! I've submitted three Feed back Hub reports today despite the hub crashing twice and hardly being able to type a message since WaaS was grinding away making my system nearly unresponsive. I tried to save a local copy of the report but it wanted to save in the "SkyDrive" folder and I could not find such a folder. That's from the Windows 8 days. So I have no idea if the reports made it to M$ or not. Ok it's obvious Microsloth has no clue how to fix this issue or is well aware of the issue and intends to let its built in Malware keep degrading our systems. So I'm done with Winblows on that system. I'm going to replace it with Kubuntu Linux and watch it run like a new system again. Now I've got three more systems to boot so Yay god bless WaaS Day. I get to spend the day watching WaaS drain the life span of my hard drives.
