WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    I opened a Hub Request months ago and have received no responses or consistent improvement. Ironically, my laptop locked up with Hub Disk activity as well as Waas Medic. There is something very wrong and may need to cancel my MicroSoft 360 subscription and go with Apple next time.

    There are many Office alternatives such as Open Office, Libre ... (Here are just a few.) Most will import / export or open / save to Office formats so sharing with other Office users is usually not a problem. Where it gets sticky is if you use Access or macros or complex templates. None of the alternatives I am familiar with (Libre, Open Office) will import, for example all the queries, reports, and functions you may have created within an Access data base. The only thing that imports into the Office alternative are the tables. You'll have to rebuild queries an reports etc. from scratch. I suspect the same would apply to macros, mail-merge, and templates for other office files.

    "The cost of freedom is high...." Might be worth downloading one of the free alternatives and try recreating the non-transferable stuff over time until you are at a point where you can jettison MS Office.

    I use Open Office as well (found MS 360 one step too far into creepy territory where I'd lose all control of my data). It converts to/from Excel format seamlessly, no annual subscription to a data overlord required.

    Now I just have to take the time to learn Linux, and I'm off the MS grid.

    MarcHoppe - Showing my age here, have some stuff in Excel using the old Excel4 macros - still works with office 19 although it was supposed to extinct years ago - don't know why they phased these out - can't do new macros unless have an old macro template, mine brought forward from office 97 templates.
