WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

Ok I just booted my media server which has a fresh install of 21H1 and nothing but Spotify installed. No other programs, no browsers, no security software, nothing. WaaS ran for over 8 minutes reading files in the Windows>Servicing>LCU>Package for Rollup Fix folders of which there are now three all containing the same files. This is a fresh install of the latest version of Windows so there is nothing to fix which is supposedly what WaaS is doing. The only conclusion is that the WaaS run in intentionally designed to wear out hard drives in order to force us to purchase SSDs or to buy new computers all together. The only real long term solution is to switch to Linux as Windows 11 will not run on many of our computers and as mentioned there's a good chance that Windows will become a subscription service. After all WaaS stands for Windows as a Service. They have already announced Windows 365. The fact that this problem has been largely ignored here says to me there will be no fix for the WaaS virus.

Is this the first time it has happened with you?. Everybody on this thread has suffered this issue to varying degrees since the turn of the year. Perhaps you have just perhaps purchased a new computer that will no doubt have this WaasMedic issue in-built & will show itself after 1st update. In 7 months have only had 1 & a bit posting from Microsoft, no updates from MS, no acknowledgement of problem, MS know of the problem because they have deliberately lumbered us with the WaasMedic otherwise why not post updates here, there other processes in the Windows operating system that should be doing the job that this is supposed to do.

'Another Fine mess you have got me into Stanley'. MS release of KB5004945, caused me problems, apparently a lot of other users as well. In their haste to issue an update to solve this PrintNightmare security vulnerability, MS have caused other problems similar to mine. Apparently a fix due to fix the fix, a true Laurel & Hardy effort here by MS. Few postings ago I thought the were attempting suicide, looks as though they now have the noose tight around their neck, another fine example of MS's total incompetence, when will this all end?
