Current status as of October 20, 2020

Windows 10, version 20H2 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and higher who manually seek to “Check for updates” via Windows Update. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel.

    I downloaded and installed the 2009 update. Completely lost all sound. 

    Went to task manager--under System Devices a red X on Intel Smartsound SST OED. Normally in Task Manager under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" there are five entries including Realtek HD Audio--all of them completely disappeared except the two Nvidia entries.

    Called support--we tried reinstalling the latest sound drivers from HP (I have a 17" Omen Laptop) and it said the drivers would not support this version of Windows.

    Finally the support guy had me roll back the update. Back up and running now on version 2004.

    Not fun.

    Well, this is typical of Microsoft not supporting their large corporate partners...just because. This is one of the reasons I purchased an external USB powered speaker system. I don't think MicroSoft is going to toss USB ports anytime soon! Good luck being a faithful user of their OS<Loud Laughter>. Hey, There is always Linux Mint 20 available @ www.linux.org along with many others. I always have one installed on an external drive. In fact Linux will install on a thumb drive if it's large enough. I prefer 64 to 128GB.

    The update caused me a problem.  I had to go to a different group to get my email back.

    I did not have a backup, I just assumed that when it said I could roll back, it would have been ok :-(

    Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.1139) is what I am back on now

    My laptop is an Asus N56JR

    I'm back on the old build now, it took all of 30 minutes to build, I hope to hell this update is not forced upon me until it is 100% ok.

    I just waisted a good part of my day having to rebuild my system from scratch

    I guess you did not have a backup of your system before upgrading ?

    Which is your old build that works ?

    And what is the brand and the configuration of the computer ?

    This upgrade took 2 hours to build, after that my laptop was unusable :-(

    The disk was running at 100% at idle, everything was soooo slow(Intel i7 cpu with 16gb ram).

    I restored back to my previous build, and the problem did not go away, so I tried a fresh install of the new build.

    2 hours later, the same result :-(

    Im back on the old build now, it took all of 30 minutes to build, I hope to hell this update is not forced apon me until it is 100% ok.

    I just waisted a good part of my day having to rebuild my system from scratch
