Windows update is stuck at 61%

I had the same problem. It worked when I've uninstalled the Conexant audio drivers. Many others found the same solution.

This was my case.  Thank you for finding this out for many of us.

I went to device manager and removed Conexant from the Audio Inputs and Outputs and Sound, video, and game controllers.  I also checked for any services (just über precaution) 

After doing the above I saw the update downloading, and then installing.

I had an old Leneovo IdeaPad U310 Touch with a Conexant Driver from 2015.  I couldn’t roll back the driver but I did uninstall it in the Device Manager with delete driver selected.  It reinstalled on reboot but this time rollback was available and showing 2020 driver from Microsoft for HD sound.  Rolled it back and started the update process over.  It took HOURS but it finally finished without errors.

I am trying to update windows to version 20H2, however, the installation it's stuck at 61%.

What I tried:

1) I tried running this in administrator command prompt:

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

2) I tried updating windows in safe mode,

**3)**I tried disabling every non Microsoft service in msconfig

**4)**I tried updating using the windows 10 update assistant

Does anyone know how to fix it?

so this worked for me:

1. disable/delete all Conexant driver
2. disable/delete all intel audio driver
3. any audio driver for a particular function should be diabled/deleted
4. goto c:/program files then, delete all files for audio conexant

I had to reinstall windows.
