How to disable efficiency mode in task manager? Windows efficiency mode is making apps like Google Chrome unusable.

Task manager on my windows desktop  says that efficiency mode is active for several but not all sub-processes of google chrome and I believe that is the reason for the drop in performance.

I am able to disable efficiency mode for each individual sub-process, but *it returns a few minutes later. I cannot permanently disable it.*Simple actions such as changing a tab or moving the window causes it to freeze for several minutes. 

  • I have no recent or current updates to install. Everything is up to date.- There are no other demanding processes / apps running on my pc- I have tried altering Chrome's performance and memory settings. Nothing changed.- This problem is the same with Edge and some other applications.- Efficiency mode is greyed out for the entire application. Only certain sub-processes of chrome are in efficiency mode.

The only difference between yesterday and today, is that efficiency mode is active non-stop.

I do not want efficiency mode running at all for google chrome as it is the main browser I use for work and school.

    I found a solution for Firefox.

    Fix for Firefox:
    Set the preference dom.ipc.processPriorityManager.backgroundUsesEcoQoS to false in about:config to disable efficiency mode.
    Restart Firefox.

    Firefox works fine now, not Chrome yet...

    What the hell is Microsoft doing, Edge works fine, is this a conspiracy, when Edge really sucks, worse than chrome by a huge margin

    I have solved the issue, when your maccafee thingie I.e. anti virus protection expires your browser becomes slow, that was the case for me, as one user pointed stopping it allows your chrome to run fast and smoothly

    That however does not stop efficiency mode, but on the other hand it works faster, way faster than it ever had

    Stop the maccaffe web advisor extension to run smoothly
