Issue with Windows Hello on Windows 11 - fingerprint recognition option currently unavailable

I had the same situation, after a while or after a Hibernate wakeup, I couldn't login to Windows using my fingerprint.

I found out that in Device Manager, my device Synaptics Touch FingerPrint Sensor, was not working.

I disable it, wait a few seconds and enable it again, and now Windows allow me to login again using my fingerprint.

Hi, I’m having an issue adding a new fingerprint on Windows 11, when I click on the sign in options it says “this option is currently unavailable” and to try again later, the button to set up another finger is greyed out. Log in is working with the fingerprint I have set up put I want to use another finger. What can I do to solve this? My laptop is the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 if that helps any. Thanks xx

I have the same issue.

I have a LENOVO with Microsoft Windows 11 Home and searching the Biometrics says that it has the latest drive (Goodix fingerprint)
I update the drivers and the problem continues, I don't know what else to do.

I see a very long list of complaints spanning more than a year that: 1) the fingerprint scanner issue persists in Win 11, and 2) your directions do not solve the problem. I know, you cannot solve it. Only Microsoft can. And Microsoft is ignoring everyone.

I am on my second computer in the span of time this thread has been live, and I have had intermittent issues with the fingerprint scanner upon boot.

Furthermore, three friends are having the same issues. I do not know others, ONLY because I have not asked.

It appears the fingerprint reader works about 50% of the time for me upon boot up. It works nearly 100% of the time after successful login without me taking any action.

During the time I have been experiencing the problem, I have been running Win 11 Pro on Dell. One friend is running Win 11 Home on Dell. One is Win 11 Home on Hp. Another Win 11 Pro on Asus.

I'm hazarding a guess there is a delay issue during boot that Microsoft needs to address. I've been experimenting and haven't found the right setting yet.

Windows Hello Fingerprint Not Working

Too many people are having ongoing issues with the inability to store MORE THAN ONE fingerprint.
And NOWHERE can I find ANY suggestions that address THAT issue.

All suggestions, including yours, address the issue of the fingerprint scanner failing altogether.

So let me be clear. All of us with the problem of Win 11 REFUSING to allow us to store more than ONE fingerprint have this in common.

1. Win 11 CONSISTENTLY allows us to store ONE fingerprint.
2. Win 11 CONSISTENTLY BREAKS and REFUSES to store MORE fingerprints.
3. Win 11 Hello successfully uses our fingerprint scanners to allow us to login using our fingerprints.

Notice something there?

A) The fingerprint scanner consistently scans the fingerprint, every time to make an impression, and then uses it to allow us to login.

B) WIN 11 fails to allow more fingerprints.

Not a physical scanner issue, not a fingerprint driver issue.
A Hello security issue.

I'm waiting over a year for a fix.
