Windows 11 doesn't see any wifi networks during the setup process

I was trying to install windows 11 on my new laptop when I reached the next step "Let's connect you to a network" the PC could not find any available networks

even after connecting it directly to an ethernet cable.

So I tough the problem might be caused by the Wireless Lan drivers but when I open the Command Prompt and try to run the drivers the keyboard or mouse won't work (Even after trying with a wireless one too).

I got this issue and here what I did to resolve:

This is the first step to do:

go to your motherboard manufacturer website and down load the LAN driver for motherboard or WiFi driver for your laptop

unzip if needed and copy everything (after unzipped) to a USB thump drive,

Plug the USB drive to a USB port in your machine then do the followings:

  • At Let connect to the network screen,
  • Press Shift + F10: to bring up the CMD window
  • Type exflorer to bring up the file manager:
  • Browe to the location where you have to files in your USB drive
  • Look for a exeutable file (normally install.exe or setup.exe,....)

-Double click on it to run it

That's it, you now can continue with your setup process

    Right? !! And why not have better instructions about how to load drivers right there on the setup page??

    Thank you very much, I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Why Microsoft have chosen not to include WIFI Drivers during the Win 11 install is beyond stupidity, as it relies on an internet connection to complete the process. I just hope we don't have to do this again when the much fabled Windows 12 emerges. But many thanks again.

    This happened to me, too. Windows did not include a Wifi driver for my motherboard. I downloaded the wifi driver from the motherboard's website on another computer. I unzipped the file folder and put it on a USB drive, which I then plugged into the new computer.

    I used Shift-F10 to open a command window. Then I hit:

    d: [to go to the usb drive that had mounted as the d:\ drive)

    cd directory_with_the_drive_I_inzipped

    <motheboardfile.exe> [at the command prompt]

    30 seconds later, after the Wifi drivers installed, Windows refreshed automatically and I saw my network, then proceeded from there.

    I did the same for my new Asus motherboard. Just to clarify; When I went into the unzipped driver folder there was only one .exe there named AsusSetup.exe. I ran it and nothing happened in the cmd box but then my WiFi network appeared in the setup app without restarting or refreshing.

    I have different things connected to surface pro with a docking station. I apparently unplug the wrong plus to stay connected to internet.
