Ok, I'm now going two days straight without a single crash. Playing Star Citizen, max settings, for maybe about 10 hours over the two days..
This is probably not the problem for anyone else, but who knows.
In this order:
- I took the graphics card out.
- I removed the CPU cooler.
- I added a bit more thermal paste to the CPU.
- Refitted the CPU cooler tightly.
- Gave the 2 RAM sticks a push, to make sure they were seated OK.
- Reinstalled the GPU.
And that was it.
I believe I was perhaps getting crashes because I moved the PC up into the attic, and perhaps shoogled something loose.
I know, now I've said this part publicly, I've jinxed it, and will start crashing again. If you don't hear back from me, then I haven't crashed since the date of this post + 2 days.
Perhaps the paste? amd3dvcacheSvc is related to the CPU; so perhaps a CPU hotspot or something is causing it the shut itself down, causing the crash.
