My computer won’t click on anything at all but it moves just fine. The computer just started acting up this morning. Anyone know why?

It happened to me about three weeks ago exactly the way you said it,it works perfectly in a fixed window but can't work out of the window except when you close it or lock and unlock your System, it is sincerely frustrating I have ran 2 malware scan,reset the system,boot in safe mode, create new user,restart windows explorer,use mouse but same problem still persists
Problem still here. Saw something interesting.
Windows will just suddenly decide to take away the mouse clicks. However - I could still open up new tabs in MS Edge. Couldnt close tabs. Couldn't click on anything else -but could open up new browser tabs. (by clicking on the plus symbol next to an open tab.)
You have to ctrl alt del to get the mouse back.
Sometimes that will cure it for a few seconds, other times, for a bit longer. Tested multiple mice - still the same. Nothing to do with the mouse - it is definitely a windows issue.
Any developments yet?
OMG, I just came here looking for a solution and cannot believe there is none after all this time. I read thru this entire thing, and not one of the solutions helped, even temporarily. Since there are literally, hundreds (which probably means there are thousands or tens of thousands) of folks with this problem, why can't we get some help from the makers of this product - MICROSOFT. I'm so sick of things working perfectly fine, then MS comes out with an update the breaks things. This has consistently happened many times, and I've been with Windows since the very beginning. I realize there are many different configurations they're dealing with, but this is an issue for so many people! HELP, MICROSOFT, HELP. WE CANNOT FIX THIS OURSELVES. YOU SHOULDN'T EXPECT US TO, ANYWAYS. Ok, rant over, and I feel just a little better. Now what??
Same issue here. Started yesterday, i tried everything i could, nothing helped.
The only turn around is hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then Esc...this way the mouse return to work properly (for a shot period).
I believe its a Windows bug, because if my browser is open, mouse works just fine inside browser, but do not work on any microsoft folder or taskbar.
