cannot rename bluetooth device on Win 11

I don't know why you're not seeing a bluetooth tab if you followed all those steps. It's crucial to open the properties pane from the More devices and printers settings option (step 3) — opening it in any other way gives a different properties pane (weird, but that's Microsoft). Here, for example, is the properties pane from Device manager compared to the pane accessed via step 3:

If you followed those steps exactly and still can't see the bluetooth tab, you could try removing the device then re-pairing it and checking whether the bluetooth tab is available?

Thanks, this is better (still issues with some devices), but it is actually the "old" W10 route brought up in a roundabout way.

So for anyone still scratching their heads for an answer (seeing as most of these replies don't work) I found a solution.

Open Run

Type control (but don't press enter)

While still in Run and control typed into the box press Ctrl+Shift+Enter, when prompted select Yes (this will open control panel with admin rights)

Inside Control Panel click Hardware and Sound

Inside Hardware and Sound right-click Devices and Printers and then click Open

Find the device you want to rename, right-click and select Properties

Inside Properties go to the Bluetooth Tab

Double click the Device Name in the box, and rename it to your desire

Click Apply in the bottom right, and then click OK.

This is the only working method I have found to rename devices. Be patient when you rename it, it takes a minute or two before the system will recognize the name change.

Thank god for you! I absolutely despise Windows 11 functionality. I am an IT professional, I can rename devices in seconds on every single other operating system known to man. Whoever designed the architecture on Windows 10/11 is a complete ****. How utterly ridiculous that there's no option to change anything whatsoever in the Bluetooth section of the system and even more ridiculous that no one seems to be able to recognise that fact and puts up posts and websites describing things that are not even options!! This has made me very angry, thanks for allowing me to get back to doing some work!
