This issue is the number one reason I will not "upgrade" to W11 as long as W10 is an option! Positioning the taskbar vertically on the screen's left (or right) border is the most efficient use of the computer screen. Vertical positioning allows plenty of space for more than a dozen open-program icons. Never having more than 6-10 programs open at one time, horizontal positioning of the task bar makes absolutely no sense to me. Perhaps MS's nerd programmers work with 20-30 programs open at once and need horizontal positioning. However, very few real-world folks need a mile-long taskbar that wastes the screen's limited space.

Why do you keep giving the wrong answer, you already know what people are asking for. We want to move the task bar to the side like we have been able to for decades. Why do you insist in telling us how to use our systems. This is why I can't DOWNGRADE to windows 11, because I can't seem to work with a chopped up version of a "modern OS" I have a laptop, and don't have much space in my screen, I need my vertical space, don't care about horizontal since there is so much of it... LET ME MOVE MY TASK TO WHEREVER I NEED IT TO BE. Please don't make me switch to a Mac when I need to get a new computer. They seem to make upgrades without chopping MacOS...

@Microsoft, Any update? Pff, this has been going on for far too long. I really don't want to have anything to do anymore with Windows 11. Having the pretty much USELESS taskbar shoved in my face daily is frustrating. The new Settings that is a wanna-be Control Panel is also such a burden. The moment I can get rid of this laptop and this OS I am jumping off this p-o-cr asap. Literally 0 improvements with this OS compared to the previous OS, instead only burdens. And is slow as fk with the stupid One-Drive everywhere integration. And don't get me started on the no auto-save in local office files :@ Why Microsoft decides they know better how to work efficiently and does no QA or consider customer feedback or at least share why they are such demons? The agenda of trying to push AI by gimping your work-flow is a really **** way to try make it popular. It definitely doesn't work.
