All drivers are freshly installed and up to date. Graphics card is barely a year old and all cables also checked. The monitor thats not detected does work also.

Everything worked until 2days ago when windows updated and now windows does not detect the second display.

Please help thank you.

Hello ScrP, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

I understand that after an update the second monitor is not detected;

What exactly is the model and manufacturer of your graphics card?

Are you using an HDMI cable to connect the second monitor?

Are you using a laptop or desktop?

Before answering the question, I suggest you try to force the detection of the second monitor;

Press Windows key + i and go to System;

Click Display;

Scroll down to Multiple screens, click Detect;

Then press the keys together: Windows key + P and select the Extend option;

Verify that the second monitor is detected;

See you soon!

    I just recently had the issue, I have an older Intel nuc specifically the nuc8i7HNK and it’s hooked up to 2 sceptre monitors. For a while I ran one monitor and recently hooked the second back up to see that it would not detect it. I tried everything but the only thing that worked was going into the optional updates and updating some display drivers there. I updated each driver I saw there and after restarting both movies were working correctly.

    I always install latest driver from nvidia and from amd. Still windows update charges that driver to the one in the update . After disconnecting the screens and cable i remove the drivers and install the originaliteit ones . Than it is good again. In system setting i disabled the driver update but de wupdates change that setting. Who doe they do that. After evers lange update the personal setting are gone like fast boot disbabled hardware updates and more. I have more systems in the diende they do all the same its frustraties and coating me money

    Brilliant. I had tried the earlier suggestions and none of them worked. But this one did. I was most sceptical at first - going into PowerShell was a bit scary, but it worked after I restarted the PC for a second time. Thank you.
