Windows 11 folder keeps reverting back to read only

I have tried CMD checks and fixes. Done a clean boot. Have installed take ownership plug-in. Changed controlled folder access which was set to off. I have replaced the folder with a newly created one and copied the files back into the new one and it has the same issue as the old folder. The folder that is affected is C:\Users\USER\Appdata\Roaming\Vortex\downloads.

I need this folder to not be read only as Vortex cannot function with the folder permissions as they are.

    Please read what I posted previously. It's just a button to set or unset files read only. As soon as you close and reopen properties it will ALWAYS show as a solid box even if zero files in the folder are set read only. It's NOT an indicator.

    You may use that option to set or unset all files in the folder read-only, but that's not the root of the issue. Something is interfering, causing Office to see the file as in use. It could be your AV software. It could be OneDrive. It could be EFS.

    I am having the same issue.

    I have gone into the folder, unchecked the Ready only dash, applied to all folders and sub folders and it keeps coming back.

    I am trying to open an Excel or Word document and it defaults to read only. I can make changes to document but can not save it to the same folder. It says Ready only no Permission, access denied. I cant save changes.

    The dash instead of a checkmark means to me that some things are marked read only, and others are not. but Checking each Folder and sub folders I cant find this to be the case.

    Yo bro check on page 6 I beg u and mark my answer as the solution, try it out its the only way I found to fix this issue after having the same issue as u, idk y it matters so much that we think the weird dash checkmark means read only when it doesn't, because our programs are saying the files are in fact read only, to fix it you have to do all the shenanigans I detailed in page 6 of these replies, If you don't mind pinning it I think it would help others who come to this thread!

    I have a new computer so I was setting everything up and tried to change folder to read/write rather than read only. I ended up correcting this with the attrib command. So many answers out there that didn't work.
