Windows 11 folder keeps reverting back to read only

I have tried CMD checks and fixes. Done a clean boot. Have installed take ownership plug-in. Changed controlled folder access which was set to off. I have replaced the folder with a newly created one and copied the files back into the new one and it has the same issue as the old folder. The folder that is affected is C:\Users\USER\Appdata\Roaming\Vortex\downloads.

I need this folder to not be read only as Vortex cannot function with the folder permissions as they are.

I agree, Win 10 was no problem, I'm wasting a lot of time just to save my files!

Please see my earlier replies regarding the "read-only" indicator. I guarantee that has nothing to do with whatever problem you're encountering. That box is NOT an indication of the folder's read-only status. It's a control that will let you set the files within a folder to read-only. It's a poorly designed interface (that's the same on Windows 10 and 11), but it's not a problem.

Please provide details about the problem that you're encountering and maybe I can help. I will try.

    P.S. I'm just another user. I'm not paid. I don't represent Microsoft.

Oh sorry. I found it lower down under update history.

My problem is with my usb flash drive with my complete set of documents, spreadsheets, turbotax, etc. I cannot move or delete files or folders after recent Windows updates. For instance it takes a long time to delete. Then, the file disappears in the current view. However, the file reappears after exiting the folder view and reopening the view. After not finding the uninstall function for Windows 11 updates. Then, I thought the problem might be onedrive. Then I blamed the read only setting.

How do I uninstall updates in Windows 11?

Both the old and new Thunderbird folders have the "read only" attribute.

Again, as noted above, that setting is irrelevant and normal. You will see that on all folders. It's not related to your "blacklisted" issue.

I am experiencing a similar issue while attempting to transfer the Thunderbird email profile folder to my new computer. My old computer was running Windows 10 with all of the updates. My new computer is running Windows 11. I am following the Mozilla Thunderbird directions on transferring my Profile folder. Both the old and new Thunderbird folders have the "read only" attribute. As I attempt to copy over the old Profile folder, I get a warning window that the folder is "blacklisted". I don't know what blacklisting means other than it will not allow me to transfer the old email files into the new computer Thunderbird folder. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
